Hands-on Rhino and Elephant Conservation Project – Family Volunteering

Are you thinking about a family holiday at Christmas and want something different this year to the usual ski trip?  Are your family adventure-seeking who would rise to a challenge and the opportunity for a brand new experience?  We have a fantastic opportunity that might suit you – so take a look quickly and see if this is for you.

Working with Rhino (1)

Our Rhino and Elephant Conservation programme in Zimbabwe is offering a once-off family programme to run between 18 December 2017 and 1 January 2018 – so you would spend Christmas and New Year in the warmth in Africa.

Family activities will include:

Wildlife and Conservation – including the chance to walk with the rhino and elephants and to put them to bed making sure they have plenty of food and water; nature walks and game drives including night walks through the bush.

Game Park Activities – going on patrol to check for evidence of damage to boundary fences and then assisting with repair if necessary.

Bushcraft and Survival Skills – how to navigate, how to find water, how to make a fire and of course how to find food!   Use the trees and grasses to make rope and even a toothbrush – and how to navigate using the stars at night.

Culture and the Community – immerse yourselves in the local Shona culture – cooking, singing songs and learning traditional dances – as well as visiting the local Markwe Caves to learn about the ancient Bushman paintings.

There will be plenty of free time to enjoy all sorts of leisure pursuits or trips to local places of interest (at an extra cost) including the world famous Victoria Falls.

This programme is sure to be popular so contact Amanzi Travel straight away for further details of the programme and how to book – and then look forward to a magical Christmas in Africa.

Castle Kopje Landscape (20)

A truly life changing experience, working on wildlife and community volunteering projects in Africa over 15 years ago, convinced Gemma Whitehouse to give up her job as a Marketing Manager for an international organisation and use her skills and expertise to set up a company that would offer others the same amazing opportunities with a service second to none - thus Amanzi Travel was born.
