Imagine being paid to take people out into the wilds of Africa!

“Imagine being paid to take people out into the wilds of Africa! To sit around the warm flickering flames of a campfire each evening, savoring the smell of wood smoke, while friendships are formed. Your safari guests have great expectations of their brief interval in Africa’s wilderness. You hold in your hands the realisation of their dreams of Africa.”

What does the job entail?
As a safari guide you get to walk or drive safari guests into the game reserve and interpret, in a meaningful and inspirational way, the large or microscopic elements of nature, all the while instilling in them a deep appreciation of nature and conservation.

You will be responsible for managing close encounters with Africa’s big five on foot or in the vehicle, ensuring the guests enjoy closeness to the animals yet with a healthy dose of caution taken. You will become a guide, teacher, friend, game warden, doctor, storyteller and sometimes even a cook for the guests! Each day in the bush is different as the interactions between species provide unique experiences that both guides and guests learn from. To top itActivities EcoTraining (8) all off, meeting interesting people from all over the globe provides a worldly element to the life of a safari guide.

A truly life changing experience, working on wildlife and community volunteering projects in Africa over 15 years ago, convinced Gemma Whitehouse to give up her job as a Marketing Manager for an international organisation and use her skills and expertise to set up a company that would offer others the same amazing opportunities with a service second to none - thus Amanzi Travel was born.
