Help to Conserve the Elephants and Wild Dogs in the Kalahari Desert in North East Namibia!

Mangetti4Man2The Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary based at Naankuse have launched an exciting new conservation initiative that focuses on the Elephant and Wild Dog populations in the North East of Namibia.  Volunteers can currently visit either Neuras or Kanaan to take part in big cat conservation work however this new initiative based in Mangetti is an opportunity to help protect the Elephants and Wild Dogs in this remote area of Namibia.

The principle aim of the project is to mitigate the human wildlife conflict with elephant and wild dogs.

Based in the North-Eastern Kalahari amongst woodlands and mixed acacia savannah, volunteers are involved in GPS monitoring the coloured wildlife; setting up camera traps; spoor (footprint) tracking; conflict assessment and outreach work with the local farmers and landowners.

Volunteers can join the Mangetti Project throughout the year for a minimum of 7 nights at Mangetti and spend a further 7 nights at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary helping to care for the many animals in need that have found a safe home there.

A truly life changing experience, working on wildlife and community volunteering projects in Africa over 15 years ago, convinced Gemma Whitehouse to give up her job as a Marketing Manager for an international organisation and use her skills and expertise to set up a company that would offer others the same amazing opportunities with a service second to none - thus Amanzi Travel was born.
